Thank you, Windows
Tayu no longer ships a Windows build. The last one was v0.6.2, and there will not be another.
Tayu began as a small idea: that the screen you stare at all day could be somewhere you actually want to look. Not another surface for notifications, but something that moves slowly, breathes, and asks nothing of you. Windows was where a lot of you met that idea first.
Getting a living wallpaper to sit behind your icons on Windows meant reaching underneath the desktop — attaching to a window the system never meant anyone to touch, and keeping video playing there through sleep, wake, and every display change. It worked. But every hour spent keeping it working was an hour not spent making Tayu itself quieter, smoother, more worth looking at.
So we made a choice we did not enjoy making: to do one thing properly instead of two things halfway. Tayu is now a macOS app, and it is becoming the app it should have been all along.
Your copy keeps working
Nothing was taken away from you. If Tayu v0.6.2 is installed on your PC, it keeps running exactly as it does today — your wallpapers, your schedules, your playlists. We have also removed the update requirement for Windows, so the app will not interrupt you asking for a version that no longer exists.
It simply stops receiving new features and fixes. Use it for as long as it serves you.
If you paid for anything
Email support@tayutau.app and we will make it right, whatever the date on the receipt. You should not be out of pocket for a platform we walked away from.
If you ever switch
Tayu for macOS is free to use and waiting whenever you get there. No account, no pressure.
To everyone who installed Tayu on Windows, filed a bug at midnight, or just left it running quietly in the background while you worked — thank you. You shaped what Tayu is. That part did not get sunset.
